Cytokine-induced Neurogenesis for Alzheimer's Disease and Frontotemporal Dementia

چکیده

Alzheimer's disease (AD) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) are two major causes of dementia. These diseases both progressive neurodegenerative whereas no curative treatment has not yet been established. Regenerative approaches have extensively researched for AD FTD, but they still in early phase pre-clinical trials. We show here, the first time, that cytokines such as hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), granulocyte colony stimulating (GCSF), insulin-like factors (IGFs), progranulin (PGRN) can induce neurogenesis GABAergic glutamatergic neurons cerebral cortex hippocampi FTD patients. also showed evidence, atrophied were significantly regenerated by cytokine-induced patients, which was confirmed MRI study neurophysiological evaluations. therefore explored potentiality cytokine cocktail is a novel promising strategy to cure FTD.

Orbitofrontal Dysfunction Discriminates Behavioral Variant Frontotemporal Dementia from Alzheimers Disease

Background: Behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) patients show prefrontal cortex dysfunction and atrophy. Methods: We investigated whether executive function in conjunction with prefrontal cortex atrophy discriminates bvFTD and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients efficiently at presentation. Results: AD and bvFTD patients were distinguishable by 89.5% on their performance of 3 execu...

Automatic Classification of Alzheimers Disease vs. Frontotemporal Dementia: A Decision Tree Approach with FDG-PET

We introduce a novel approach for the automatic classification of FDG-PET scans of subjects with Alzheimers Disease (AD) and Frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Unlike previous work in the literature which focuses on principal component analysis and predefined regions of interest, we propose the use of decision tree learning combined with empirically determined regions of interest as attributes. The...

Frontotemporal dementia to Alzheimer's disease

Behavioral manifestations may dominate the clinical picture of the frontal variant of frontotemporal dementia (fv-FTD) for a long time before the appearance of true cognitive deficits. On the other hand, a deficit in the episodic memory domain represents the main manifestation of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Many behavioral disorders have been described in the clinical course of both FTD and AD; h...

Empathy in frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Using naturalistic stimuli, we assessed the ability to infer what other people are feeling in three groups of participants: healthy elderly adults, patients suffering from the behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia (FTD-b), and patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease (AD). After watching videotaped interviews of everyday people (nonactors) discussing an emotionally relevant event in ...

Assessment of Aphasia in Iranian Patients Suffering From Frontotemporal Dementia

Objective Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is an uncommon type of dementia. The hallmark feature of FTD is the presentation with aphasia, or behavioral changes which are varies in different subtypes of the disease. We propose a quantitative aphasia test as an additive diagnostic tool for differentiation of FTD subtypes. Method: The study was performed on 20 patients, who were referred to dementia...
